How to Choose Push Pins?
Adam January 17, 2014Attachment Methods • Q&ANylon push pins are the most cost effective push pins, but their glass-transition temperatures (Tg) are lower than 50°C and are not suitable for high temperature environment. We recommend using UL94-V0 rated nylon push pins for low temperature and cost-sensitive applications, or where electrical insulation is required. Spring steel push pins are the most reliable push pins. They can withstand high temperature, thermal cycling and strong shock and vibration. Spring steels have very high yield strength and can be heat treated to relieve stresses due to work hardening. Spring steel push pins can be inserted and extracted for over a hundred times without degradation. We recommend spring steel push pins for high-temperature or harsh-environment applications, or where electrical conduction is required.
